The Last Lecture (by Randy Pausch)

“Really Achieving your Childhood Dreams” is an inspiring lecture by Randy Pausch.
He was a Carnegie Mellon computer science professor, who passed away this July at the age of 47 after fighting pancreatic cancer.

His “Last Lecture” is a humor filled synopsis of moments in his life that led him to realize his childhood dreams. It is a toast to his moments of epiphany, hardship, learning, and thanks which he wanted to share with friends, students, and family before he passed away.

What impressed me most were these following words which guided him to become a professor:

“Go get a Ph.D. Become a professor. And I said, why? And he said, because you’re such a good salesman that any company that gets you is going to use you as a salesman. And you might as well be selling something worthwhile like education.”

And I wish I too could someday say that helping others achieve their own dreams was even more fulfilling than achieving my own dream.

Many thanks, Professor Randy Pausch, may you be continuing to fulfill your dreams in heaven.
